The Highs and The Low Down

White marlin on a fly out of VA beach! Great fun and looking forward to more during the fall billfish season. It was incredible getting out of the valley and exploring the other incredible fisheries that exist in VA! Locally we are taking advantage of the last bit of peak smallmouth season before fall arrives!

The James and Shenandoah Rivers

The James and Shenandoah are finally down to normal summer levels and fishing great. Big fish have been seen cruising the shallow ledges in the afternoons looking for bugs along the shade lines. Get out and enjoy the last bit of the season while it lasts! We are almost full for the season so call us soon to book a float trip with the family!. Ck Baitfish, Crittermites, Clawdads, Wiggle Minnows, and deer hair bugs are in high demand. We have a good stock of all popular flies but with the industry shortages in play they may not last the season. Take advantage of the quality water levels we have now while they last! Carp, musky, and bass fishing has been great the past few weeks!

Mountain Brook Trout Streams

The Shenandoah National Park streams and GW Forest creeks and rivers are low and clear. Afternoon thunderstorms have been keeping us busy fishing for brookies this summer. The cool weather has kept water temps down an average of 7-8 degrees this year! It is looking like we may have a good fall fishing season this year if water levels hold! Watch out for deer ticks. They have been bad this year and many folks are contracting Lyme’s disease. Have fun and be safe up in the hills this summer!

Spring Creeks

Beaver Creek, Upper South River, Buffalo, Coursey, Mossy Creek, and Susie Q Farm are all low and clear but fishing well. Terrestrial season is in full swing with large grasshoppers all over the place. We have been experiencing incredible trico hatches in the morning and the Hex’s are out in the late evening hours. Help us spread the word folks!!!! – GET YOUR MOSSY CREEK, BUFFALO CREEK, and SOUTH RIVER PERMITS ONLINE 24/7 FREE!!!
