How We Use It

Different conditions require different gear including gloves. While wool half fingers are great for cool days, neoprene gloves can be necessary for rowing and handling a big musky in midst of a snow storm in February. Windstopper and Gore-Tex gloves will keep you fishing through the coldest and windiest of days. Wool half finger gloves are regularly used on cool fall and winter days and early mornings in the spring time. These gloves keep you comfortable in mild weather while the fleece gloves will give you more warmth and are much quicker to dry. Fleece will also keep your hands warm when damp where wool will not. With prices ranging from $24.95-$64.95 there is a model for every budget as well.

What We Like About It

  • Almost all models have hand warmer pouches along the wrist to warm blood going into the hand.
  • All models are available in different sizes for appropriate fit.
  • Variety allows you to pick different gloves for different situations.
  • Windstopper models are thinner than regular fleece for better feel and dexterity.
  • Regular fleece gloves will still retain heat while wet and dry quickly unlike wool.
  • The wool models are great for maximum dexterity and have a great rubber grip on the palm.
  • Half finger models allow for easy knot tying
  • Fold over mitts are great for warming up finger tips on extremely cold days.

What We Don't Like About It

  • Lets be honest- no one ‘LIKES’ fishing in gloves. Despite how thin, they are still distracting, restrictive, and reduce dexterity and feel.
  • Neoprene keeps your hands from getting wet but aren’t the best for insulation
  • Fleece can be bulky and inhibits dexterity
