The Shenandoah Valley lies just two hours outside of our nation's capital and offers some incredibly diverse freshwater fishing. It is hard to find mountain brook trout, spring creek rainbows and browns in such close proximity to some of the best smallmouth, carp, and musky fishing in the country. Twin brothers, Brian and Colby Trow, are natives of Virginia who took their love of fly fishing together and put it all on the line to 'live the dream' in the center of this unheralded fishing destination. More than 10 years and one nasty economic recession later, Brian and Colby understand the risks and costs of running a small business. Success comes with the price of long hours and being away from family, but it is time on the water together that keeps them connected. Selected for the 2014 Fly Fishing Film Tour (F3T).
Terrestrial season is here! Check out how nice Spring Creek looks. We have put in some serious man hours cleaning up and clearing out 3/4 of a mile of Spring Creek to make it easily accessible to most anglers. The terrestrial fishing has been incredible and it should only continue to get better. If you like sight fishing to large browns and rainbows with light gear....this is for you. Spring Creek is availble exclusively to our guide clientele.
This is what it is all about folks. We have been supporting Project Healing Waters from its beginning. It is an absolutely incredible program. Contact PHW or our shop to learn how to volunteer or make a donation. We are looking forward to continuing to host and support one of the biggest fundraisers for PHW, The Mossy Creek Invitational!
Check out this great new video done by the World Fishing Network on Mossy Creek. Great info and fishing footage. This really gives you a little taste of what our summer fishing is like. Thanks for putting this together Jason. Enjoy!
Please enjoy some footage of our fishing experiences in and around the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia!
Winter Fly Fishing Virginia, 2010 on Smith Creek at Susie Q Farm. We are truly blessed to have year round fisheries in VA. Despite the very cold temperatures we can experience, the fishing can be excellent in the winter.
Beetlemania! Enjoy this old video of when we used to fish Mossy Creek literally every day. Mid July brings about some crazy terrestrial action.
22" Morning. Anglers were after this fish for months. I finally picked the right day, time, and fly to get this fish to eat. Who says you need to dress in muted colors to catch fish on spring creeks? I was wearing a white t-shirt because it was brutally hot, about 98 degrees, sunny, and humid! The fish didn't seem to mind too much.
The Mossy Creek Invitational is our favorite day of the year ever year. This is our annual fund raiser for Project Healing Waters. Give us a call or email to learn how you can support this incredible program!
Mossy Creek Fly Fishing guide Bob Cramer will be here giving out some pointers on how to tie the BEST smallmouth flies. Bob has over 30 years experience guiding for trophy fish in the Shenandoah Valley. Come watch a local master starting at 10AM. Bring a friend!
