Trout Guiding
The Mossy Creek Fly Fishing guide service covers rivers, streams, spring creeks,
and private waters from the George Washington National Forest across the Valley
floor to the Shenandoah National Park. Virginia has over 2,300 miles of wild trout
streams considered to be some of the best brookie water in the East, outside of
New England. These streams are located in the higher areas of the Blue Ridge and
Allegheny Mountains where the water stays cool, oxygenated, and there is sufficient
cover. We offer Full or Half day trips into these secluded streams for wild brookies.
We also guide on Virginia's best Delayed Harvest and Special Regulation streams
within an hour of the shop. These are some of Virginia's most popular trout fisheries
offering superb fly fishing. Although trout in the 8-16 inch range abound in these
streams, there is always a chance for a bigger fish over 20 inches! Fishing can
be excellent year round with a peak season in March-June. The public stretch of
Mossy Creek fishes well year round. Brian lives on the public stretch of Mossy and
our guides live only minutes from this famous spring creek. A permit must be obtained
from the VDGIF office in Verona prior to trips on Mossy Creek.
